The SAR President’s Circle is a group of philanthropic individuals who give generously to support SAR’s mission and programs, helping to foster innovative work in the social sciences and further Native American creativity. Through meaningful programs available to this membership level, President’s Circle donors are able to deepen their own knowledge while engaging with others who share their interests. While we may have to keep our physical distance right now, being part of the President’s Circle is one way to stay socially connected.

Our webinars and livestreams are open to all members and the public. This summer, SAR started a new series of Zoom gatherings of virtual happy hours featuring special guests who include our current and former scholars, artists, and extended network of leading thinkers. Members of the President’s Circle and Founders’ Society can join these monthly get-togethers, which offer an intimate and fun setting in which to engage with thought leaders.

President’s Circle member Lauren Prescott attended a recent virtual happy hour featuring SAR senior scholar Tom Dillehay. She reflects:

My husband and I have been members of the President’s Circle since it was organized in 2008 and have thoroughly enjoyed the programs, field trips, international trips, and intimate scholar dinners offered its members. And now, in the time of the pandemic, SAR has created thoughtful, interesting online programs with internationally renowned scholars that provide the participants and speaker the opportunity for conversation with each other. The breadth of SAR programs has increased my knowledge of people and their culture, history, and pre-history not only in the American Southwest, but also in distant locales. I relish the variety of events and topics presented . . . and once we are able to travel again, we’ll be anxious to continue our in-person exploration of the world with SAR.
