Over the years, the IARC has hosted many IARC Seminars relating to areas of its collection. Over the course of two to seven days, artists meet to talk about and share ideas centered around the chosen theme. The purpose of these seminars is to jointly advance the understanding of the collection and allow artists to interact and share their knowledge.
Research themes and ensuing seminars have included Micaceous Pottery, Pueblo Embroidery, Pueblo Inlay Mosaic Jewelry, and Contemporary Southwestern Indian Basketry, Southwestern Indian Easel Painting, Kachinas, Storytellers, Moccasins, and Textiles. Many of these gatherings have resulted in publications by the SAR Press and museum exhibitions in cooperation with other local museums.
