The School for Advanced Research, Vilcek Foundation, and Museum of Indian Arts & Culture invite you to join us for the public opening of Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery. Join us as we celebrate the opening of this groundbreaking exhibition with a film screening, panel discussions, hands-on activities, pottery demos, music and snacks.

All day: Film Screenings and Family Fun!
* The PBS documentary associated with this exhibition, Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery, will have its public debut.
* Join us for family fun with an all-ages hands-on clay activity!
11:00am-12:00pm: Grounded in Clay Panel Discussion: Methodology
Project participants and organizers discuss the methodology and process of Grounded in Clay, and talk about the importance of deep community involvement for museum exhibitions.
Speakers: Dr. Joseph Aguilar (San Ildefonso), Tony Chavarria (Santa Clara), Elysia Poon. Moderated by Lillia McEnaney.
12:00-2:00pm: Reception, Pottery demonstrations and Dances
*Reception: Refreshments catered by Sun and Fire Catering (Jemez)
*Pottery demonstrations by Jordyn Atencio (Ohkay Owingeh), Rose Pacheco and Billy Veale (Kewa/Diné), and Dylan Coriz (Kewa)
*Pueblo dances by the Cellicion Zuni Dancers
2:00-3:00pm: Grounded in Clay Panel Discussion: Community Voices
Community Curators share their personal stories and relationships to the clay and this project.
Speakers: Exhibition Community Curators Albert Alvidrez (Ysleta del Sur), Marita Hinds (Tesuque), Kathleen Wall (Jemez). Moderated by Emily Santhanam (Chickasaw/Tamilian).
3:15-4:00pm: Music with the Adrian Wall Trio

Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery was curated by the Pueblo Pottery Collective and organized by the School for Advanced Research and Vilcek Foundation. The Museum of Indian Arts & Culture is the inaugural host of this exhibit.
