Eric and Barbara Dobkin Fellowship
Koyukon Athabascan, Janna Avner (she/her), is a painter and light artist. While at SAR, she will present two prototypes and one potential design of a final art piece in the form of paintings and glass, based physical objects, drawings, holograms and software renderings. Avner will be in residence from March 1, 2023, to May 31, 2023.
Heidi Brandow
Ronald and Susan Dubin Native Artist Fellowship
Heidi Brandow (she/her) is a Diné and Kanaka Maoli multi-disciplinary artist. While at SAR, she will explore 3-dimensional forms through continued engagement with wood carving and clay. Brandow will be in residence from June 1, 2023, to August 15, 2023.
Michael Namingha
Rollin and Mary Ella King Native Artist Fellowship
Ohkway Owingeh and Hopi artist, Michael Namingha (he/him), is a versatile photographer who combines new and old techniques to create a commentary on the rapidly changing landscape of the American West. While at SAR, he will use a photo-screenprinting sand process, in combination with oral histories, to translate works by his great-great-great grandmother, Hopi-Tewa potter Nampeyo. Namingha will be in residence from September 1, 2023, to December 15, 2023.
