LIVE AUCTION

Internationally renowned painter and SAR’s 2002 Ronald and Susan Dubin Fellow Mateo Romero is probably best known for his work that links the past, present, and future of Pueblo life. These highly gestural works combine photo transferred images with paint. In a stunning shift in direction, however, Mateo has more recently been focusing on the physical land traveled by his ancestors. His explorations through the dramatic Southwest landscape are enhanced by his heavy use of impasto and flirtations with chiaroscuro.

Original oil. 24″ x 24″
