Cynthia Dyer’s responsibilities as designer and production manager for SAR Press cover all aspects of pre-production—from coordinating photography and design elements with authors and editors, to developing cover and text designs, typesetting, print management, and developing e-books for online distribution.

Cynthia majored in studio art and art history in college, interests that led her to a career in printing and publishing. For many years, she honed her talents in the darkrooms and stripping departments of commercial printers in Louisiana and New Mexico. She briefly shared in the creation and management of a film and video production company in Albuquerque prior to taking a position as a designer and reprints manager at the University of New Mexico Press in 1988. She worked as production manager for Pilgrim Press in Cleveland, Pelican Publishing in New Orleans, and High Mountain Press in Santa Fe before joining the staff at SAR Press in 1999. As time and technology have moved forward, she has been fortunate to work with the new technologies available and help bring SAR's books into the twenty-first century.

Cynthia is also happy to finally be back in New Mexico. She devotes her spare time to creating art, primarily in pastel and pencil, community service, gardening, and exploring New Mexico's various wild and not so wild landscapes. She is married to anthropologist/author Christopher Dyer.
