Juanita Growing Thunder Fogarty (Fort Peck Assiniboine/Sioux) is a second-generation traditional Northern Plains beadwork and embroidery artist.
As SAR’s 2022 Eric and Barbara Native American Artist Fellow, she has been working on a project that entailed the creation of two traditional Assiniboine (Nakoda) women’s dresses: one is a classic Assiniboine women’s trade wool dress with pony beadwork and brain tan buckskin accents and adorned fringe; the second dress is an Assiniboine style silk ribbon dress complete with brain tan buckskin accents and adorned with an assortment of brass items, bells and coins.
