Introducing 2022-2023 Anne Ray Intern Wayne Nez Gaussoin

Hi! I am Wayne Nez Gaussoin (Picuris/Diné/French descent), and I’m one of the 2022-2023 Anne Ray Interns at the Indian Arts Research Center (IARC).

I have a background as a professional artist with over twenty years of experience. I received a Masters of Fine Arts with a minor in Museum Studies from the University of New Mexico. I have worked with museums from the outside as an Artist and now I want to work with museums from within.

Before the pandemic, I worked as the assistant curator at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC). That experience inspired me to apply for the internship at IARC to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of collections and registration work. I hope that with this gained experience I can further develop my interest in curatorial work both within the museum world and within my own professional artist career.

I look forward to sharing resources and information with you on my journey here as an Anne Ray Intern!
