Shared Histories: Exploring Connections between Collections at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and SAR

Image above: IAF 121. Jar, c.1916. Crescencio and Maximilana Martinez (1879–1917 and 1885–1955). San Ildefonso Pueblo.

Date: POSTPONED. Please stay tuned as we reschedule this event for a future date.
Admission: Free event for members of the Board of Directors, Founders’ Society, President’s Circle, and special guests.

Join us for an informative evening with Curator of Ethnology Tony Chavarria and Director Emeritus Bruce Bernstein from the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture (MIAC) on the overlapping histories of SAR and the Museum of New Mexico. Also discussed will be the history of collecting in Santa Fe and reflections of that history’s major players. Chavarria and Bernstein will lead a tour through the San Ildefonso pottery exhibition currently on view at MIAC. We will see how the collections complement, expand upon, and share history with SAR’s Indian Arts Fund (IAF) collection.

Please RSVP to Lindsay Archuleta at archuleta@sarsf.org or 505-954-7231.
