Join us for an evening of sound, sights, and taste from the Andean Highlands, “Re-Sounding Ancient Chavín: A Virtual Archaeoacoustical Tour.”

Take a virtual trip to the Andean highlands with SAR’s 2016-17 Weatherhead fellow and cultural acoustician Miriam Kolar and Peruvian multimedia artist José Cruzado. Together, they have created a dynamic multimedia tour that draws on photos, video, visualizations, and sounds from over a decade of innovative sonic fieldwork at the 3,000-year-old Andean ceremonial site and World Heritage Center of Chavín de Huántar, Peru.

Engage with Peruvian sisters Adriana Brawley and Susana Hamilton, owners of Sabor Peruano, for a cooking demonstration of a traditional Peruvian dish. Listen to Andean flute music by Mario Reynolds.

Headphone or speaker listening is recommended for total sonic immersion, and text annotations will be provided.

Winter Party 2020Participants will receive in advance:
•Recipe for a traditional Peruvian dish by Sabor Peruano
•Articles on Chavín de Huántar, Peru by Miriam Kolar
•Zoom backgrounds with Peruvian landscapes by José Cruzado
•Exclusive 15% discount at the Peruvian Connection Santa Fe Store with no exclusions, valid Dec 2-Dec 8

Two special gifts, donated by the Peruvian Connection, will be given away as door prizes during the course of the evening.
