Guided Farm Tour and Farm-to-Table Lunch
Cost per person: $70 for SAR members
Excursion limited to 28 participants
Join us for a window into local, sustainable food. Starting with a guided tour of Reunity Resources Community Farm in the morning, we will then meet at Plants of Southwest Kitchen, for a three course, vegetarian lunch.
Reunity Resources is committed to fostering climate change resiliency and food sovereignty at the local level through environmental education, local food systems advocacy, community engagement and active solutions in the form of closed-loop systems. In addition to a community farm founded on regenerative practices, they operate a farm stand that offers the community access to quality produce throughout the summer, a farm card donation program for those experiencing financial hardship, a robust volunteer program, a city-wide composting program, and host a series of music events and educational programming throughout the summer.
Plants of the Southwest Kitchen is the somewhat-secret, lunch-only, vegetarian cafe of the nursery that goes by the same name on Agua Fria. Operated by chef Olive Tyrrell since 2009, its limited operating hours and season make reservations hard to come by. Using primarily seasonal ingredients from three local farms-and other local producers where possible-Tyrrell crafts her daily menu according to what is available. Activity Level: Easy – Limited walking. Participants must be able to walk unassisted around a 2-acre farm during guided tour, as well as from parking areas to farm and restaurant.
Includes: Guided farm tour and three-course vegetarian lunch, including gratuities.
