The School for Advanced Research (SAR) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, in agreement with the Organizing Committee of WAC-6, is pleased to announce the "SAR Prize Session in Anthropological Archaeology."
SAR will select a WAC-6 session to participate in a five-day advanced seminar at the SAR campus. For more information on SAR, please visit http://www.sarweb.org/.
If you are interested in being considered for this prize, please read carefully the following procedures and take the indicated steps:
1) Submit the session proposal to WAC-6 according to established guidelines.
2) Prepare a separate application for the SAR Prize Session. We welcome broadly theoretical and global panels addressing any of the Congress's themes. Sessions that are geographically narrow or primarily methodological are discouraged. The application must include the following:
a) Contact information and institutional affiliations for session organizers;
b) Session title, abstract, and format;
c) List of participants, their institutional affiliations, and titles and abstracts for their papers.
Assemble this material into a single PDF document and submit it electronically to SAR by March 31, 2008. Please send completed applications to WAC6Prize@sarsf.org.
3) A panel of SAR academic staff will review the applications and select several finalists based on the quality of the proposed papers and the session's timeliness and broad significance for anthropological archaeology. SAR reviewers then will attend the WAC-6 sessions of the finalists to determine the winning session.
4) The SAR Prize will be presented at a public event to be announced in the WAC-6 Programme.
After WAC-6, participants in the SAR Prize Session will begin discussions with representatives of SAR to plan the advanced seminar, which will be held in the subsequent 18 to 24 months. SAR will underwrite transportation, room, and board expenses for the seminar. Details on the SAR advanced seminar program can be found at http://www.sarweb.org/seminars/seminars.htm.
