K. Tsianina Lomawaima (Muscogee; Ph.D. Anthropology, Stanford University, 1987) is Professor, Justice & Social Inquiry and Distinguished Scholar of American Indian Education, Center for Indian Education in the School of Social Transformation, Arizona State University. Before joining ASU in 2014, Dr. Lomawaima served on the faculty of American Indian Studies at the University of Washington (1988-1994) and the University of Arizona (1994-2013). Dr. Lomawaima works in Indigenous history and cultural studies, and is one of the six founders of the Native American & Indigenous Studies Association/NAISA, an international, interdisciplinary association of university and community based scholars.
