At this symposium, co-sponsored by the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Research Center and the School for Advanced Research (SAR), encounters between American modernism and indigenous cultures will be discussed. Carolyn Kastner, curator of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and Cynthia Chavez Lamar, director of the Indian Arts Research Center at SAR, have lined up an amazing panel of Native and non-Native scholars, curators, and artists to address shared intellectual and cultural interests in the encounters between Euro- and Native-American modernists and indigenous artists and cultures.
