With a mission of saving lives and property, the national weather forecast in Albuquerque provides forecasts and warnings for the northern two-thirds of the state. This presentation will cover topics that link weather, climate, and extreme events. Examples of natural climate variability will be described and related to local weather, including drought, floods, wind, and dust storms.

Deirdre Kann is the science and operations officer at the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, a position she has held for twenty years.
