The Society for Cultural Anthropology Recognizes Two SAR Alums with Awards

BriggsPhotos courtesy of the authors.Lucas Bessire, 2010-2011 Visiting Research Associate, SAR, and Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma, has been awarded the 2015 Bateson Prize by the Society for Cultural Anthropology for his book, Behold the Black Caiman: A Chronicle of Ayoreo Life. The Gregory Bateson Prize is awarded annually at the meetings of the American Anthropological Association and carries an honorarium of $500.

Charles Briggs, 2009 – 2010 Weatherhead Fellow, SAR, and Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, has been awarded the 2015 Cultural Horizons Prize by the Society for Cultural Anthropology for his article, “Dear Dr. Freud.” The Cultural Horizons Prize is awarded annually at the meetings of the American Anthropological Association and carries an honorarium of $500.
