SAR’s Nancy Owen Lewis Awarded 2012 Espinosa Prize

SAR Scholar-in-Residence Nancy Owen Lewis’s article, “High and Dry in New Mexico: Tuberculosis and the Politics of Health,” recently won the 2012 Espinosa Prize for best article published in the New Mexico Historical Review, vol. 87 (2012). The award was made by the editorial board of the review. James Brooks, SAR president, said of Lewis’s article, “This piece is a superb work of scholarship and writing, and adds significant value to the Espinosa Prize and to the review. It is a unique contribution to the historiography of New Mexico and the Greater Southwest.”
