Dr. Treuer will discuss the strategies (and the difficulties) in writing living history in relation to his book-in-progress, The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee. He will discuss how his method (of combined history, reportage, and memoir) evolved while writing his last book, Rez Life, and how it applies in relation to the new project. Treuer will also describe the differences--political and practical--between writing history and nonfiction.
